A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE ZACHARY DANIEL BRUNSON OF LITTLE MOUNTAIN, SOUTH CAROLINA, ON BEING SELECTED TO RECEIVE THE 2006 BERNARD CARROLL BALLENTINE SCHOLARSHIP AND TO WISH HIM THE VERY BEST AS HE EMBARKS ON HIS COLLEGE CAREER AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, Zachary Daniel Brunson of Little Mountain, South Carolina, the son of Thad and Liz Brunson, who is completing his college prep studies as a home-schooled student, has been selected to receive the Bernard Carroll Ballentine Scholarship; and

Whereas, Zach Brunson, an exceptional student with a strong work ethic and commitment to community service, will be attending the University of South Carolina, College of Criminology and Criminal Justice, where he plans to pursue a career in law enforcement; and

Whereas, throughout his home schooling Zach has successfully balanced his studies with many extracurricular activities, including baseball and football. He also has been a dedicated volunteer and an outstanding leader in the youth ministry program at Three Rivers Baptist Church, where Zach and his family are faithful members; and

Whereas, the Bernard Carroll Ballentine Scholarship was established in 2006 by Representative Nathan Ballentine in honor of his paternal grandfather who passed away in 1976 and in furtherance of his commitment to return his legislative salary to the community. Bernard Carroll Ballentine graduated from Irmo High School and served with honor in the United States Army during World War II, and was a former fire chief in Columbia. This scholarship will be awarded annually to one high school senior who plans to attend the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize such a capable student and fine young man as Zachary Brunson, an outstanding son of South Carolina, who has brought great pride to his family, his church, and his community. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate Zachary Daniel Brunson of Little Mountain, South Carolina, on being selected to receive the 2006 Bernard Carroll Ballentine Scholarship and to wish him the very best as he embarks on his college career at the University of South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Zachary Brunson of Little Mountain, South Carolina.
