A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND MRS. LINDA J. C. JONES OF RICHLAND COUNTY FOR THIRTY-THREE YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS A CHILD DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST WITH THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES AND TO EXTEND TO HER EVERY BEST WISH FOR A HAPPY AND ENJOYABLE RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Linda J. C. Jones has devoted her entire career to enhancing the quality of child care in the State of South Carolina and has been a leading children's advocate ensuring that everything possible is done to protect South Carolina's children in need; and

Whereas, Mrs. Jones began her thirty-three years of commitment to improving child care in South Carolina as a Child Development Specialist working in the office of former Governor John West from June 1973 to April 1976; and

Whereas, after the Office of Child Care and Development was moved to the South Carolina Department of Social Services, Mrs. Jones worked as a Child Development Consultant from April 1976 until September 1984; and

Whereas, working as Human Services Program Coordinator upon the relocation of the state's Child Care and Development Program to the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Mrs. Jones became a department head with the Bureau of Community Services, where she served diligently from August 1990 until March 2004; and

Whereas, upon the return of the state's child care program to the South Carolina Department of Social Services in 2004, Mrs. Jones became a program manager, the position from which she is retiring in June 2006; and

Whereas, Mrs. Jones' sincere compassion is evident through her thirty-three years of dedication to South Carolina's youngest citizens; and

Whereas, she married John J. R. Jones on November 29, 1981, and to their delight three beautiful daughters, Ashley, Whitney, and Morgan were born. Her loving and caring family worships at and are dutiful members of St. John Baptist Church in Columbia; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and thank Mrs. Jones for an outstanding career serving and protecting the care of South Carolina's children upon the occasion of her retirement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend Mrs. Linda J. C. Jones of Richland County for thirty-three years of dedicated service as a child development specialist with the South Carolina Department of Social Services and extend to her every best wish for a happy and enjoyable retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Linda J. C. Jones.
