A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND MISS SOUTH CAROLINA 2006, SHELLEY BRYSON BENTHALL, FOR HER HARD WORK, DISCIPLINE, TALENT, AMBITION, AND HER EXCELLENT AMBASSADORSHIP FOR THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND HER HOME COUNTY.

Whereas, Shelley Bryson Benthall, of Florence, was crowned Miss South Carolina 2006 and has been an excellent ambassador for the State of South Carolina during her reign; and

Whereas, the daughter of Rick and Diane Benthall, Shelley is the third of a fine family of seven children and enjoys two brothers and four sisters; and

Whereas, having both intelligence and good looks, she has been named to the Dean's List as a junior food science and nutrition dietetics major at Clemson University and hopes to finish her degree with honors; and

Whereas, an ambitious double career as a pediatric dietician and as a recording artist in the country/Christian music industry is her goal; and

Whereas, Shelley has volunteered over five hundred hours with several community programs, devoted over one hundred fifty hours of service to organizations that promote the prevention of alcohol and drug abuse, and is a recognized motivational speaker at churches and festivals from South Carolina to Tennessee; and

Whereas, her pageant honors include swimsuit and talent awards at the Miss Florence Scholarship Pageant, the overall swimsuit award and scholarship awards at the Miss South Carolina Pageant, and a talent award and top-three status for the Miss Congeniality award at the Miss America Pageant; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives takes great pleasure in recognizing such an outstanding young woman and representative of the State of South Carolina as Shelley Bryson Benthall. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend Miss South Carolina 2006, Shelley Bryson Benthall, for her hard work, discipline, talent, ambition, and her excellent ambassadorship for the State of South Carolina and her home county.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Shelley Bryson Benthall.
