A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND CONGRATULATE BREE BOYCE UPON BEING CROWNED MISS SOUTH CAROLINA 2011 AND TO WISH HER WELL IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, on July 2, 2011, Bree Boyce, 22, of Florence, South Carolina won the Miss South Carolina title; and

Whereas, the new Miss South Carolina spent three years losing 112 pounds before she competed in a beauty pageant; and

Whereas, the aspiring singer lost her weight the old-fashioned way and hopes to inspire others to do the same. Appropriately, her pageant platform is "Eating Healthy and Fighting Obesity"; and

Whereas, Bree will take her platform national when she competes for Miss America in January 2012. Until then, she will be traveling around the country encouraging others to get healthy by eating well, exercising, and believing in themselves; and

Whereas, Bree also hopes to spread the message of good health in her local community and talk to students about the importance of their health; and

Whereas, her personal battle and new title will certainly make a difference in the lives of so many; and

Whereas, it is appropriate and fitting for the members of the Senate to pause in their deliberations to honor the tremendous accomplishments of this daughter of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, honor and congratulate Bree Boyce upon being crowned Miss South Carolina 2011 and wish her well in all her future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Bree Boyce.
