VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE KEENAN HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR CAPTURING THE 2013 CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND TO HONOR THE TEAM'S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF.
Whereas, fully prepared for the challenge, the Keenan High School girls basketball team crowned a 20-6 season by capturing the 2013 Class AA State Championship title, defeating defending champion Bishop England 46-41 at the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia on Saturday, March 2, 2013; and
Whereas, at first, the road to the crown was not smoothly paved for the Lady Raiders. But these determined athletes persevered, successfully making journey's end to the top of the mountain, to the joy of their fans; and
Whereas, Keenan held the lead early on but fell behind by playing Bishop England's game late in the first half. The Lady Raiders turned the game around by getting back to their fast-paced transition game; and
Whereas, Coach Reggie McLain switched his players to man-to-man defense to take control of the rhythm of the game in the second half. The Lady Raiders took to heart their coach's exhortations and came through like the champions they are; and
Whereas, jubilant Keenan fans cheered in excitement as the Lady Raiders, playing as a team with one heartbeat, won the championship crown; and
Whereas, Coach McLain, who had honed his players into a championship machine, saw the fruits of his labors as the title trophy was hoisted; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in recognizing the young women of the Keenan High School girls basketball team for leading with excellence both in the classroom and on the court and expects to hear of continued great achievements in the years ahead. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Keenan High School girls basketball team for capturing the 2013 Class AA State Championship title and honor the team's exceptional players, coaches, and staff.
