The House assembled at 10:00 a.m.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by Rev. Charles E. Seastrunk, Jr., as follows:
Our thought for today is from Psalm 37:34: "Wait for the Lord, and keep to His way, and He will exalt you to inherit the land."
Let us pray. Lord God, You have been our guide and protector through all generations. Put into our hearts and minds the desire to serve You and the people whom You have chosen for us to serve. Continue to hold us in Your arms as we continue in this life. Protect our Nation, State, and this Assembly. Guide the leaders of Nation and State to do the right thing. Protect our defenders of freedom as they protect us. Heal the wounds, those seen and those hidden, of our brave warriors who suffer and sacrifice for our freedom. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayers. Amen.
