A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR SOUTH CAROLINA STATE TROOPER JOSEPH RAGAZZO FOR RISKING HIS SAFETY SO THAT OTHERS MAY REMAIN SAFE AND TO WISH HIM A SPEEDY RECOVERY FROM INJURIES SUSTAINED IN THE LINE OF DUTY.

Whereas, the members of the Senate of South Carolina find it absolutely fitting and appropriate to pause in their deliberations to honor a dedicated South Carolina State Trooper, Joseph Ragazzo, who has risked his life so that others can stay safe; and

Whereas, on October 14, while assisting in the performance of a routine traffic stop, Trooper Ragazzo was struck and critically injured by a vehicle whose driver was under the influence; and

Whereas, while conducting a sobriety test on a driver who was under suspicion of being intoxicated, a vehicle was spotted driving toward the responding troopers at a high speed. The car swerved and hit Trooper Ragazzo. He was taken to Grand Strand Medical Center where he received treatment; and

Whereas, Trooper Ragazzo has been battling his tremendous injuries daily with the loving support of his friends and family; and

Whereas, the members of South Carolina's Senate are heartbroken that such a tragedy struck a brave son of the Palmetto State who daily commits his well-being to the betterment of the community. Gratitude for his services cannot be adequately expressed, but a fast, full recovery is prayed for fervently. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor South Carolina State Trooper Joseph Ragazzo for risking his safety so that others may remain safe and wish him a speedy recovery from injuries sustained in the line of duty.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Trooper Joseph Ragazzo.
