A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE TROOPER FIRST CLASS JAMES KEITH CHASTAIN ON BEING SELECTED THE "1991 SOUTH CAROLINA HIGHWAY TROOPER OF THE YEAR".

Whereas, the South Carolina Highway Patrol is composed of men and women dedicated to the protection and safety of the people of South Carolina; and

Whereas, the South Carolina Highway Patrol has received many national and regional awards testifying to its excellence and national leadership in public safety and proficiency; and

Whereas, the South Carolina Petroleum Council awards annually the South Carolina Highway Trooper of the Year to the highway trooper who best typifies the dedication, devotion, and proficiency of the South Carolina Highway Patrol; and

Whereas, Trooper First Class James Keith Chastain of Belton in Anderson County has been selected as the "1991 Highway Trooper of the Year", the twenty-third trooper to be honored since the program began in 1968, and

Whereas, Trooper Chastain of Patrol District Three was selected from a field of nine district patrolmen of the year; and

Whereas, the people of South Carolina are proud of Trooper First Class James Keith Chastain and the men and women of the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly extend their congratulations to Trooper First Class James Keith Chastain for his selection as the "1991 Highway Trooper of the Year", and express their appreciation for the outstanding job done by our South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Trooper Chastain.
