TO COMMEND MR. H. FILMORE MABRY OF ORANGEBURG FOR HIS TRULY OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS PRESIDENT OF THE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER OF ORANGEBURG AND CALHOUN COUNTIES.
Whereas, H. Filmore Mabry of Orangeburg is president of the Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg and Calhoun Counties and has rendered more than thirty years of service as the chief executive officer of the Orangeburg Hospital and its successor organizations; and
Whereas, Fil Mabry accepted the position as chief executive officer for the Orangeburg Hospital in December, 1961. His tenure in Orangeburg is one of the longest and most distinguished of hospital administrators in this State. The opening of the Regional Medical Center on U.S. Highway 601 in May, 1981, is a milestone of his tenure, and the opening of the new freestanding cancer treatment center on the TRMC campus is another of his significant accomplishments; and
Whereas, he is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina, received an undergraduate degree in business administration from Duke University, and completed the post-graduate program in hospital administration at Duke. Prior to accepting the position of chief executive officer of the Orangeburg Hospital, he served more than six years as administrator of Clarendon Memorial Hospital in Manning, which was his first position in the healthcare field; and
Whereas, Fil Mabry is a leader in the healthcare industry, and has received many citations, awards, and recognitions for his contributions to his community, county, and State. A Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, he served as South Carolina Regent from 1986 to 1989. Currently, he serves on the board of directors of the eleven-state Southeastern Hospital Conference. He has served two terms as chairman of the South Carolina Hospital Association and three terms on the South Carolina Hospital Association's Board of Trustees. In recognition of his contributions to the State, he received the South Carolina Hospital Association Distinguished Service Award in 1988 and was the recipient of the South Carolina Hospital Association Merit Award in 1981. He is the immediate past chairman of the Palmetto Hospital Trust Board of Trustees, was also instrumental in the formation of SunHealth, and has contributed much to the healthcare profession in various capacities of service; and
Whereas, in addition to his role as a healthcare leader, he has also given much to the Orangeburg community as a civic leader. He is a former board member of the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce, is also a member, a Paul Harris Fellow, and a past president of the Orangeburg Rotary Club, and is an active member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Orangeburg; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and commend this truly exceptional man for his more than thirty years of dedicated, faithful, and energetic leadership of this fine medical facility. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby commend Mr. H. Filmore Mabry of Orangeburg for his truly outstanding service as president of the Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg and Calhoun counties.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Mabry.
