EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT THE DEATH OF MRS. MILLIE DORN OF GREENWOOD AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND HER MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, Mrs. Mildred Johnson "Millie" Dorn of Greenwood died in 1990 at the age of sixty-five; and
Whereas, she was the wife of former Congressman William Jennings Bryan Dorn; and
Whereas, she attended Campbell University and was a graduate of the University of North Carolina; and
Whereas, she was a member of the editorial staff of U. S. News and World Report and was well known as her husband's closest political adviser; and
Whereas, Millie Dorn was a very highly respected and much admired person and was a superb campaigner and an astute political organizer who made a distinctive imprint in her own right on the face of South Carolina politics; and
Whereas, Millie was also a gracious and charming hostess, very popular throughout the State, and will long be fondly remembered; and
Whereas, we want Congressman Dorn and all of the other members of Millie Dorn's family to know that they have our deepest sympathy. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, expresses sorrow at the death of Mrs. Millie Dorn of Greenwood and extends sympathy to her family and her many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mrs. Mildred Johnson "Millie" Dorn, in care of the Honorable W. J. Bryan Dorn, at Greenwood.
