A BILL

TO AMEND CHAPTER 6, TITLE 44, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 44-6-340, RELATING TO MEDICAL RECORDS OR OTHER RECORDS SO AS TO PROVIDE A MINIMUM CHARGE FOR THE COPYING OF THESE RECORDS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Chapter 6, Title 44 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 44-6-340. Health care or insurance providers may charge for copies of medical records or other records provided the charge does not exceed fifty cents per page, except that a minimum charge of ten dollars for furnishing copies of these records is authorized to be charged."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
