A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS SYMPATHY TO THE FAMILY OF PERCY OSTEEN, JR. OF ANDERSON.

Whereas, Percy Osteen, Jr. died on Friday, May 29, 1992; and

Whereas, Mr. Osteen worked in the movie business from childhood, following in the footsteps of his father who first opened a theater in Anderson in 1918; and

Whereas, he operated several more movie theaters in Anderson, including the twin-theater on Main Street that bears the family name; and

Whereas, other movie theaters operated by Mr. Osteen's family had names like Liberty Theater and the Egyptian; and

Whereas, the family watched films change from the days of the silent pictures to "talkies" to full color epics to novelty "3-D" movies and more; and

Whereas, Mr. Osteen also was active at St. John's United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School and was on the Board of Stewards; and

Whereas, Mr. Osteen was involved in the community by being a Boy Scout leader for seventeen years even though he has no sons; and

Whereas, the Anderson community will feel the loss of Mr. Osteen. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly express sympathy to the family of Percy Osteen, Jr. of Anderson.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Osteen's family.
