A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 33-55-60, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE PERSONS AND ENTITIES WHICH ARE NOT REQUIRED TO FILE REGISTRATION STATEMENTS WITH THE SECRETARY OF STATE UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF LAW DEALING WITH CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS AND SOLICITATION OF CHARITABLE FUNDS, SO AS TO ADD CERTAIN PUBLIC ENTITIES AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS TO THE LIST OF EXEMPT ENTITIES AND PERSONS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 33-55-60 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"(8) Any state or local governmental agency or subdivision.

(9) Any organization which receives all of its charitable funds from governmental bodies or federated fund-raising organizations and which does not solicit funds from the public on its own."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
