South Carolina General Assembly
109th Session, 1991-1992
Journal of the Senate

Tuesday, May 26, 1992

(Statewide Session)

Indicates Matter Stricken
Indicates New Matter

The Senate assembled at 12:00 Noon, the hour to which it stood adjourned and was called to order by the PRESIDENT.

A quorum being present the proceedings were opened with a devotion by the Chaplain as follows:

Beloved, hear the Psalmist when he said (Ps. 105:7-9):

"He is the Lord our God;

His judgements are in all the earth.

He is mindful of His covenant forever,

of the word that He commanded, for thousand

generations, the covenant which He made with Abraham,..."
Let us pray.

O God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, as Memorial Days come and go, we pause to reflect and give thanks for the lives of those who have lived... and served... in days gone by.

We give thanks for the blessed memories which bind us to the unseen world of the heroic dead who circle us around like a cloud of witnesses.

We remember especially before Your Throne of grace those who still live in hospitals throughout our land and across the earth, weakened in body, mind, and spirit by the ravages of war.

May we, today, renew our dedication to the same high purposes and ideals which moved our forebears to build and preserve a great State... and Nation.

Bless the peacemakers across this planet, and may peace among peoples come as Thy gift of grace... and the fruits of goodwill among us... as we continue to work and pray, "Thy Kingdom Come... Thy Will be Done"... in the Name of the Prince of Peace.

Amen.

The PRESIDENT called for Petitions, Memorials, Presentments of Grand Juries and such like papers.

I did not vote in confirmation of Senator Martschink's appointment to the Workers' Compensation Commission because she is my daughter and it may have been considered improper.
