EXPRESSING THE SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF THE LATE JERRY RYAN PRICE, SR., OF WEST COLUMBIA IN LEXINGTON COUNTY.
Whereas, the members of the Senate were saddened to note that Jerry Ryan Price, Sr., of West Columbia, died June 17, 1993, during the legislative interim; and
Whereas, Mr. Price, a native of Gilbert, was for many years an employee of the United States Postal Service, most recently as Postmaster of the Lexington Post Office, and his conscientious service earned for him on many occasions postal service awards in recognition of his outstanding job performance; and
Whereas, Mr. Price was a devoted and loyal member of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church, where he served as president of the Congregation Council and the Lutheran Men, as chairman of the Organ Renovation Project, Church Treasurer, and chairman of the Lutheran Men Committee of 100; and
Whereas, he also was active in numerous other community affairs as president of the Woodmen of the World Lodge No. 273, and as trustee, national representative, and South Carolina state president of that organization; and
Whereas, other evidence of his devotion to his community was his membership in the Lexington Chamber of Commerce, board member and vice-president of the Columbia Post Office Credit Union, and as a member of the Lexington Medical Center Board of Directors; and
Whereas, it is appropriate for the members of the Senate to pause in their deliberations so that they might note the passing of so distinguished a son of South Carolina and exemplar of public service. Now, therefore,
