AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 2-281, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1962, RELATING TO THE WALTERBORO-COLLETON COUNTY AIRPORT COMMISSION, SO AS TO CHANGE THE COMPOSITION OF THE COMMISSION.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Walterboro-Colleton County Airport Commission-composition
SECTION 1. Section 2-281 of the 1962 Code is amended to read:
"Section 2-281. The Walterboro-Colleton County Airport Commission is created and established as a body corporate and politic to serve as an agency and a part of the government of Colleton County and the town of Walterboro. The commission shall consist of five members who are the mayor of Walterboro, the chairman of the county council of Colleton County, the treasurer of Colleton County, and the auditor of Colleton County, the membership on the commission being held ex officio by the holders of the above-mentioned offices. The remaining member must be a member of the Walterboro City Council to be elected by the council. The commission shall have a chairman and secretary-treasurer to be elected by the members thereof and may adopt suitable bylaws, rules, and regulations not inconsistent with this section for its proper operation. The members of the commission shall serve without compensation. The secretary-treasurer shall furnish a surety bond in such amount as the commission may from time to time determine, the premiums on the bond to be paid from the funds of the commission. The secretary-treasurer may be a member of the commission or some suitable person selected by the commission at a compensation to be fixed by the commission."
