A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING COACH BURNEY BOURNE, CHERAW HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL COACH, FOR BEING HONORED BY WBTW, CHANNEL 13, AS THE 1992 CO-COACH OF THE YEAR.

Whereas, members of the General Assembly were delighted to learn that Coach Burney Bourne, football Coach of Cheraw High School, was recently honored by WBTW, Channel 13, as the 1992 Co-Coach of the Year, along with Bill Tate of Timmonsville; and

Whereas, the football season looked rather bleak when Cheraw started it with three wins and four losses; and

Whereas, an incredible seven-game winning streak turned the season around in an amazing fashion; and

Whereas, the winning streak was even more impressive when one considers that three of the last opponents were teams with ten wins or more; and

Whereas, Coach Bourne is to be commended for the outstanding contribution as a coach, and the example he sets as an individual; and

Whereas, by winning the lower-state championship, Coach Bourne has brought honor and distinction on his team, assistant coaches, and the Cheraw community as a whole. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring: That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Coach Burney Bourne, Cheraw High School Football Coach, for being honored by WBTW, Channel 13, as the 1992 Co-Coach of the Year.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Burney Bourne.
