A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF JOHN R. T. "BOB" MAJOR, RICHLAND COUNTY CLERK OF COURT, WHO DIED MARCH 9, 1993.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the death of John R. T. "Bob" Major, of Columbia, on March 9, 1993; and

Whereas, Mr. Major was appointed by the Governor as Richland County Clerk of Court and was elected for five consecutive terms and served from 1965 to 1985; and

Whereas, the contributions to his community and State earned him the respect and admiration of his peers and those that he served; and

Whereas, Mr. Major was a loving family man, an outstanding member of our community, and was a member of the Trenholm Road United Methodist Church; and

Whereas, history will record that Richland County and the State of South Carolina are better because Bob Major passed this way; and

Whereas, we the members of the General Assembly express appreciation for his life and his contributions and he will be long remembered and missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring: That the members of the General Assembly express their deepest sympathy to the family and many friends of John R. T. "Bob" Major, Richland County Clerk of Court, who died March 9, 1993.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of John R. T. "Bob" Major.
