AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING ARTICLE 15 TO CHAPTER 25, TITLE 50, SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR RESTRICTIONS, NO WAKE ZONES, PENALTIES, AND FINE DISBURSEMENTS FOR WATERCRAFT ON LAKE MURRAY.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Operation of watercraft on Lake Murray
SECTION 1. Chapter 25, Title 50 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
Section 50-25-1510. Except on and during legal holidays, the operation of a watercraft on Lake Murray which produces disturbing, excessive, and useless noises is declared a public nuisance and is forbidden.
Section 50-25-1520. No wake zones must be established on Lake Murray where practical by the South Carolina Wildlife and Marine Resources Department. No wake zones must be marked clearly with signs, and the signs must be designed and installed by the department.
Section 50-25-1530. A person who violates this article, upon conviction, must be fined not less than fifty nor more than one hundred dollars. Fines imposed and collected under this article must be paid to the law enforcement agency which enforced the violation or to the Wildlife and Marine Resources Department if it enforced the violation."
Time effective
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
