AN ACT TO AMEND SECTIONS 44-53-210 AND 44-53-250, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO SCHEDULES II AND IV CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT INJECTABLE FORMS OF PENTAZOCINE ARE SCHEDULE II AND THAT ORAL DOSAGE FORMS OF PENTAZOCINE ARE SCHEDULE IV.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Schedule II drugs

SECTION 1. Section 44-53-210(c)14. of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"14. Pentazocine (to be administered by injection only)"

Schedule IV drugs

SECTION 2. Section 44-53-250 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding at the end:

"(f) Pentazocine hydrochloride and acetaminophen, pentazocine hydrochloride and aspirin, and pentazocine and naloxone hydrochloride (all for oral administration only)"

Time effective

SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
