AN ACT TO CREATE A REGISTRATION AND ELECTIONS COMMISSION FOR OCONEE COUNTY, PROVIDE FOR THE COMPOSITION OF COMMISSION, AND ABOLISH THE OFFICE OF COMMISSIONERS OF ELECTION AND THE
REGISTRATION BOARD OF OCONEE COUNTY AND DEVOLVE THEIR POWERS AND DUTIES UPON THE REGISTRATION AND ELECTIONS COMMISSION.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Registration and elections commission created
SECTION 1. There is created the Registration and Elections Commission for Oconee County. The commission may be composed of not less than five and not more than nine members who must be appointed by a majority of the Oconee County Legislative Delegation, including the resident Senator, who are appointed for terms of two years and until their successors are appointed and qualify. Vacancies on the commission may be filled by appointment in the manner of original appointment for the unexpired terms only. The members of the commission shall receive compensation as may be appropriated by the county council.
Powers devolved
SECTION 2. The office of the Commissioners of Election and the Registration Board for Oconee County are abolished. The powers and duties of the commissioners of election and the registration board are devolved upon the commission created in Section 1.
Time effective
SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
