A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING JIM DAVIS, HEAD COACH OF THE CLEMSON UNIVERSITY WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM, ON BEING NAMED ATLANTIC COAST CONFERENCE COACH OF THE YEAR FOR 1994.

Whereas, Jim Davis, head coach of the Clemson University women's basketball team, has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year for 1994; and

Whereas, this is the second time Coach Davis has been named ACC Coach of the Year in his Clemson career, having also received the honor in 1990; and

Whereas, in his years at Clemson, Coach Davis has coached nine All-ACC players, has led the University to seven straight NCAA women's basketball tournaments, has had five Top Twenty seasons, and has accomplished six 20-Wins seasons -- all this since taking over the Lady Tigers program only six seasons ago, in 1987-88; and

Whereas, he is an outstanding motivator and has a keen eye for talent and the ability to recruit exceptionally well; and

Whereas, he has truly been a credit to the State of South Carolina and Clemson University, and the General Assembly is pleased to be able to recognize this outstanding head basketball coach. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Jim Davis, head coach of the Clemson University women's basketball team on being named Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year for 1994.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Davis.
