A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING JESSICA BARR OF LEXINGTON COUNTY, STAR PLAYER ON THE CLEMSON UNIVERSITY WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM, ON BEING SELECTED AS THE ATLANTIC COAST CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE YEAR FOR 1994.

Whereas, Jessica Barr of Lexington County finished her senior season as a member of the Clemson University women's basketball team in stellar fashion; and

Whereas, Jessica, a forward for the Lady Tigers, was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year for 1994, thus becoming the first Clemson player in ACC history to win this honor; and

Whereas, for the 1993-94 season, Jessica was also named to the First-Team All-ACC, to the District III Kodak All-America Team, and to the ACC All-Tournament Team (First Team); and

Whereas, she was also named "South Carolina Amateur Athlete of the Year, and she became the third player in Clemson history to lead the Lady Tigers in scoring, rebounding, and field goal percentage in a single season; and

Whereas, she graduated from Batesburg-Leesville High School in 1989, and her prep honors included being named All-State, All-Conference, a Parade Magazine All-American for 1989, a Converse All-American for 1989, and the 1989 South Carolina Player of the Year; and

Whereas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Barr, Jessica has demonstrated her superb talent and exceptional athletic ability over and over again; and

Whereas, she is a proven winner both on and off the basketball court and has made everyone in South Carolina extremely proud of her abilities and admirable qualities; and

Whereas, the General Assembly is indeed proud to have this opportunity to pay special recognition to such an outstanding young woman. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Jessica Barr of Lexington County, star player on the Clemson University women's basketball team, on being selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year for 1994.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Jessica Barr.
