COMMENDING MAJOR PATTY J. GARRET FOR DEDICATED AND OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO LAW ENFORCEMENT IN THIS STATE.
Whereas, Major Patty Garrett is Chief of Operations with the Sumter City Police Department, which position is also that of Assistant Chief of Police; and
Whereas, as such, she is one of the State's highest ranking female police officers; and
Whereas, her distinguished law enforcement career spans twelve years of diverse assignments, including serving as a SLED agent and SWAT team member, a criminology instructor at the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, a juvenile investigator, and a warrant clerk; and
Whereas, she works tirelessly to serve the best interests of law enforcement; of significance is her expertise in the area of child abuse and sexual assault; and
Whereas, she is the first recipient of the Non-Traditional Career Award presented by Governor Carroll Campbell; and
Whereas, she reflects great credit upon herself, her family, the Sumter City Police Department, and the State. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commends Major Patty J. Garrett for dedicated and outstanding service to law enforcement in this State.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Major Garrett.
