COMMENDING DR. JOHN H. HUDGENS FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE AS SUPERINTENDENT OF RICHLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT TWO, AND WISHING HIM HAPPINESS AND SUCCESS IN HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, Dr. John H. Hudgens believes that all children can learn and that it is the responsibility of educational leaders to provide the environment in which they do learn; and
Whereas, for nine years he has guided one of the trail-breaking school districts in South Carolina, Richland School District Two, and for 34 years he has devoted his career to the education of the State's young people; and
Whereas, he has kept educational goals on track as student population has grown from 10,700 to nearly 14,000 in Richland School District Two; and
Whereas, his leadership and proven record of performance have stimulated a climate that promotes growth, team effort, and positive change within the district; and
Whereas, he has been named to numerous national and state honors, including the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce Athena Award, South Carolina Superintendent of the Year, South Carolina Honor Administrator, and Outstanding Administrator; and
Whereas, teachers, administrators, and schools under his leadership have garnered numerous national and state honors; and
Whereas, he has consistently encouraged the finest offerings in every classroom and the fullest development of every student; and Whereas, he is retiring in 1994 as Superintendent of Richland School District Two, and we want him to know that his service has been outstanding and is greatly appreciated. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend Dr. John H. Hudgens for his outstanding service as Superintendent of Richland School District Two and wish him happiness and success in his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Hudgens, 6831 Brookfield Road, Columbia, 29206.
