A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

RECOGNIZING AND HONORING DR. ALICE STUCKEY GRAVES, ONE OF LEE COUNTY'S OUTSTANDING CITIZENS, FOR HER ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND HER CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE SUCCESS OF HER COMMUNITY.

Whereas, a tribute to Dr. Alice Stuckey Graves of Lee County is planned for Friday evening, February 23, 1996, at the Opera House in Bishopville; and

Whereas, Dr. Graves served as a teacher in the Lee County schools for forty-two years, and she was also a basketball coach, winning two district championships and one state crown; and

Whereas, this very vibrant lady is very active in church and civic activities; and

Whereas, she is one of the organizers of the Lee County Chapter of the Morris College Club, and she is a member of the Board of Trustees of Morris College; and

Whereas, Dr. Graves graduated from Morris College with a Bachelor of Arts degree and received a Master's degree from South Carolina State University; she has done further studies at the University of South Carolina; she has contributed her time, talent, and energy by serving on many boards and foundations; and her accomplishments, accolades, awards, plaques, and certificates are nearly countless; and

Whereas, she is truly a major "mover and shaker" in the City of Bishopville and the County of Lee; and

Whereas, she is an outstanding and caring individual who has touched many lives and who is admired and loved by all who know her; and

Whereas, this distinguished lady is highly deserving of recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognizes and honors Dr. Alice Stuckey Graves, one of Lee County's truly outstanding citizens, for her accomplishments and her contributions to the success of her community.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Graves.
