A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND MRS. KAY BLACK, A TEACHER WITH LEXINGTON SCHOOL DISTRICT TWO, FOR HER DISTINGUISHED TWENTY-EIGHT YEAR CAREER IN EDUCATION UPON HER RETIREMENT.

Whereas, the members of the Senate have learned that Mrs. Kay Black will be retiring later this year after a distinguished twenty-eight year career in public education with Lexington School District Two; and

Whereas, she began her career at Congaree Elementary School where she taught the fourth grade for three years and the fifth grade for three years; and

Whereas, she then moved to Brookland-Cayce Grammar School No. 1 where she taught the second grade for two years and kindergarten for twenty years; and

Whereas, being a teacher is a special calling which requires special gifts to mold the minds of the future leaders of our State and nation, and this truly outstanding educator, without question, has such gifts; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and thank her for the contributions she has made to the public school system of Lexington School District Two upon her retirement; and

Whereas, after retiring, she will have more time to spend with her husband, Gary, and their two children, and she also will be able to play golf more often, travel, and work with Our Savior Lutheran Church in West Columbia to which she is devoted. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate hereby commend Mrs. Kay Black, a teacher with Lexington School District Two, for her distinguished twenty-eight year career in education upon her retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Kay Black.
