A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE DR. KAILASH MATHUR FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE ORANGEBURG COMMUNITY, THE STATE, AND THE NATION.

Whereas, Dr. Mathur is a professor at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg and has been since 1965; and

Whereas, Dr. Mathur is adviser to the Nutritional Sciences Graduate Program at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg and has been since 1987; and

Whereas, Dr. Mathur is currently serving as Adjunct Professor of Nutrition at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston; and

Whereas, President Bill Clinton appointed Dr. Mathur to the National Nutrition Monitoring Advisory Council in 1994 to assist in providing scientific and technical advice on the development and implementation of a comprehensive plan for national nutrition monitoring; and

Whereas, Dr. Mathur was featured in "Who's Who in America" in 1994 and 1996; and

Whereas, Dr. Mathur holds bachelor's and veterinary degrees from colleges in India, a master's degree from North Carolina State University, and a doctorate from the University of Illinois at Urbana; and

Whereas, Dr. Mathur came to the United States in 1962 from Bikaner, Rajasthan, India, where he had been in charge of College Clinics at the Veterinary College; and

Whereas, Dr. Mathur was honored by the King of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India; and

Whereas, Dr. Mathur's tireless dedication provides a positive role model and example of service for all of his peers to emulate. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly recognize Dr. Kailash Mathur for his distinguished accomplishments and contributions to the Orangeburg community, the State, and the Nation, and wish him a long career.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Kailash Mathur.
