A JOINT RESOLUTION TO PROVIDE FOR TEMPORARY QUALIFICATIONS AND FEES FOR LICENSURE AS A HOME INSPECTOR.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Temporary qualifications, fees
SECTION 1. (A) The following temporary qualifications for licensure as a home inspector shall be in effect until qualifications are established by regulation, at which time this subsection no longer has any force or effect.
Any person desiring to be licensed as a home inspector shall file with the South Carolina Residential Builders Commission an application on forms provided by the commission showing to the satisfaction of the commission that he:
(1) is currently certified as a building or home inspector by an organization approved by the commission;
(2) has a minimum of one year of experience as a home inspector under the direction and direct supervision of a licensed home inspector, residential builder, general contractor, engineer, architect, or a municipal or county building inspector; and
(3) has performed a minimum of fifty residential inspections.
(B) The following temporary fees for licensure as a home inspector shall be in effect until fees are established by regulation, at which time this subsection no longer has any force or effect:
(1) an application fee of fifty dollars;
(2) an annual renewal fee of fifty dollars;
(3) a late fee of ten dollars for renewals received after July thirty-first; an additional late renewal fee of twenty dollars is required when a renewal is received more than twelve months after expiration of the license;
(4) a replacement fee of ten dollars for replacing any lost, destroyed, or mutilated license;
(5) a fee of ten dollars for a reissued license when any change is requested by the licensee to any information printed on the license.
Time effective
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
