A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 47-3-75, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO DOGS AND OTHER DOMESTIC ANIMALS, REGULATION BY COUNTIES, AND THE TRANSFER OF A DOMESTIC ANIMAL TO AN ANIMAL SHELTER TEN DAYS AFTER THE DATE THE OWNER WAS TO PICK UP THE ANIMAL, SO AS TO ESTABLISH PENALTIES FOR VIOLATING THIS SECTION AND FOR BOARDING ANIMALS OF OTHERS AS DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 47-3-75 of the 1976 Code, as added by Act 354 of 1992, is amended by adding:

"(C) A person who boards animals of others as described in this section and who violates the provisions of subsections (A) or (B) is guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction, must be punished by imprisonment not exceeding thirty days or by a fine of not more than two hundred dollars."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
