A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE LEXINGTON HIGH SCHOOL WILDCATS ON THEIR WINNING THE 1996 CLASS AAAA STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the Lexington High School Wildcats secured the Class AAAA State Basketball Championship with a 46-33 win over rival Irmo at the University of South Carolina Coliseum; and

Whereas, the Wildcats had lost two earlier games to Irmo prior to the Christmas holidays; and

Whereas, the team players after their two losses in the Beach Ball Classic met and decided to focus on winning the State Championship; and

Whereas, in a spirited exhibition that mental attitudes contribute significantly along with physical stamina and outstanding skills to a winning agenda; the Wildcats finished with a 26-4 record, which included an l8 game-winning streak; and

Whereas, the success of the Wildcats basketball team has brought tremendous pride and recognition not only to the team, but to the community. Now therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Lexington High School Wildcats on their winning the Class AAAA State Basketball Championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Bailey Harris and the team members of the Lexington Wildcats.
