A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

COMMENDING MR. ANTHONY T. GRANT OF COLUMBIA ON HIS SERVICE AS CHAIRMAN OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY BOARD OF TRUSTEES.

Whereas, Mr. Anthony T. Grant was reared in Spartanburg County; and

Whereas, Mr. Grant received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration from South Carolina State University; and

Whereas, since 1992, he has served as Senior Vice President, Commercial Banking Executive, Central Region for NationsBank Carolinas; and

Whereas, Mr. Grant currently serves as Chairman of the South Carolina State University Board of Trustees and in this capacity has been a leader in the field of higher education; and

Whereas, he has been a leader in numerous civic organizations that include the Columbia Urban League, the United Negro College Fund, Sisters of Charities Foundation of South Carolina, the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce, and the Columbia Museum of Art; and

Whereas, Mr. Grant is married to attorney Helen Nelson Grant, partner in the law firm of Gergel, Burnette, Nickles and Grant, and Chairwoman of the Columbia College Board of Trustees, and together they are the proud parents of two sons. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend Mr. Anthony T. Grant for his service as Chairman of the South Carolina State University Board of Trustees.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Anthony T. Grant.
