EXTENDING THE HEARTFELT APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO DR. BYRON K. WEBB OF CLEMSON ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AFTER THIRTY-EIGHT YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AT CLEMSON UNIVERSITY AND WISHING HIM CONTINUED SUCCESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly have learned that one of South Carolina's most prominent leaders in higher education, Dr. Byron K. Webb of Clemson, is retiring after thirty-eight years at Clemson University; and
Whereas, Dr. Webb was born on February 2, 1934, in Cross Anchor, South Carolina; and
Whereas, in 1955, he graduated from Clemson University with a B.S. Degree in Agricultural Engineering; received a M.S. Degree in Agricultural Engineering from Clemson University in 1962; and furthered his education in 1966, receiving a Ph.D. Degree in Agricultural Engineering from N.C. State; and
Whereas, Dr. Webb is married to the former Sybil Boatwright of Seneca and they are blessed with one son, Charles Kenneth; and
Whereas, Dr. Byron Webb's dedication and many accomplishments have been recognized and honored including: Fellow of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers; Distinguished Agricultural Engineer Award, South Carolina section; and received the Clemson University Alumni Distinguished Service Award in 1993; and
Whereas, he has been responsible for developing strong student programs in Agricultural Engineering at Clemson and has developed many research publications and patents; and
Whereas, Dr. Webb has provided strong administrative leadership as Department Head, Dean and Director of the Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service, and as Interim Vice President of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Research; and
Whereas, his efforts in teaching, extension, research, and outreach have strengthened the lives of South Carolina residents; and
Whereas he has been a dynamic leader at Clemson, instilling in his professors there his own enthusiasm for educating students in the best possible manner; and
Whereas, Dr. Webb is a gifted individual who possesses unbounded energy and remarkable talent and ability, and all Clemson University students, faculty, administrators, and alumni, as well as the citizens of Clemson and the whole State of South Carolina, have very good reason to take pride in his success and to be grateful for all that he has achieved. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, extend heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Byron K. Webb of Clemson on the occasion of his retirement after thirty-eight years of distinguished service at Clemson University and wish him continued success in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Byron K. Webb.
