A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO DAVID WELLS, JR., OF ALCOLU FOR HIS EXEMPLARY SERVICE TO HIS COMMUNITY.

Whereas, David Wells, Jr., of Alcolu has long rendered outstanding service to his community; and

Whereas, Mr. Wells is a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church U.S.A., has served as elder and Sunday school teacher there, and is the former superintendent of Sunday school at the church; and

Whereas, he is a member of the NAACP, is past master of Red Hill Lodge Number 144 in Alcolu, and is past excellent high priest of Alpha Chapter Number 5 in Clarendon County; and

Whereas, he is past patron for Red Hill Chapter Number 157 O.E.S., deputy grand excellent high priest of the Royal Arch Masons in Columbia, and eminent commander of Omega Knight's Temple Number 8; and

Whereas, his record of service also includes chaplain for the Temple of Crusaders and junior warden for the Seventh Masonic District; and

Whereas, he is a member of the senior choir at Westminster Presbyterian Church, a member of the Presbytery Men's Council, a member of Red Hill Lodge Number 144, a member of Red Hill Chapter Number 157 O.E.S., and president of Trustees Union Number 3 of Sumter and Clarendon counties; and

Whereas, he is an outstanding employee of Carolina Golden Products and drives twenty-five miles one-way to work each day; and

Whereas, David Wells, Jr., is a man of compassion who cares greatly about the well-being of his fellow human beings, and he is a dynamic individual whose service to his community has endeared him to all who know him; and

Whereas, his record of service is one which is highly deserving of recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express appreciation to David Wells, Jr., of Alcolu for his exemplary service to his community.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. David Wells, Jr., Route 1, Box 1210, Alcolu, 29001.
