A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE MAYOR ELONA CAROLYN DAVIS UPON WINNING THE PRESTIGIOUS GOVERNOR'S LEADERSHIP AWARD IN RECOGNITION OF HER OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP QUALITIES AND EFFORTS IN SERVING THE PEOPLE AND COMMUNITY OF DENMARK.

Whereas, Mayor Elona Carolyn Davis has been recognized for her outstanding leadership qualities in Denmark, one of South Carolina's finest rural communities; and

Whereas, on Monday, February 27, 1995, in recognition of her efforts and leadership in the economic, social, and aesthetic progress of her community, Mayor Davis was presented the Governor's Leadership Award during the rural summit held in Columbia; and

Whereas, Mayor Davis initiated a local grant and public information department; and

Whereas, Mayor Davis formed a community outreach program that tutors children after school; and

Whereas, her efforts have been instrumental in the restoration of local historic buildings and in the organization of a city cleanup program; and

Whereas, Mayor Davis has actively recruited new business to the Denmark area and has helped bring her community together in order to work toward the common goal of improving Denmark. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby congratulate Mayor Elona Carolyn Davis for her leadership and dedication to the people and community of Denmark, and honor Mayor Davis upon winning the Governor's Leadership Award.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mayor Elona Carolyn Davis.
