A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE STRATFORD HIGH SCHOOL KNIGHTS OF GOOSE CREEK AND COACH JOHN CHALUS FOR THEIR FIRST EVER AAAA STATE BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the Stratford High School Baseball Team were pre-season favorites to take their first AAAA state crown; and

Whereas, the Knights had to overcome illness, injury, and other adversity to struggle back from a 6-6 record and third place in the Region 6-AAAA early in the season; and

Whereas, the team members learned to accept and deal with their hard times; and

Whereas, they faced adversity and crisis head-on and became tougher competitors; and

Whereas, that toughness saw them through a two-game sweep of the Gaffney High School Indians for the AAAA State Baseball Championship for 1996. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the Stratford High School Knights of Goose Creek and Coach John Chalus are congratulated by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, for their first ever AAAA State Baseball Championship.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Coach John Chalus on behalf of the Stratford High School Baseball Team.
