A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

COMMENDING DR. C. STEPHEN SANDERS OF GREENVILLE COUNTY FOR HIS OUTSTANDING AND DEDICATED TWO YEARS OF SERVICE AS PRESIDENT OF THE BAPTIST MINISTERS FELLOWSHIP OF GREENVILLE AND VICINITY.

Whereas, Dr. C. Stephen Sanders of Greenville County has served as Pastor of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church of Greenville for twenty-nine years; he also has served as Chaplain of the South Carolina Department of Corrections and as Special Assistant to the General Secretary of the Progressive National Baptist Convention; and

Whereas, Dr. Sanders is founder of Project Hope Greenville (home for recovering drug addicts), is Past Moderator of Enoree River Baptist Union of Greenville and of Enoree River Baptist Association of Greenville, and has served on numerous boards and committees, including the South Carolina Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission, Meals on Wheels, the NAACP, and Operation PUSH; and

Whereas, he is a graduate of Morris College School of Religion, Clinical Pastoral Education at the South Carolina Department of Corrections, and 1993 Leadership South Carolina Department of Corrections, and he carried out further studies at Yale University and the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, he is a 1994 recipient of the Order of the Palmetto; and

Whereas, for two years he served as President of the Baptist Ministers Fellowship of Greenville and Vicinity, providing excellent guidance and direction for this outstanding organization; and

Whereas, we are pleased to be able to recognize the talents of this superb leader and dedicated minister of the Gospel. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commends Dr. C. Stephen Sanders of Greenville County for his outstanding and dedicated two years of service as President of the Baptist Ministers Fellowship of Greenville and Vicinity.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. C. Stephen Sanders.
