A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE GRATITUDE AND BEST WISHES OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA TO KELLER H. BARRON FOR HER PIONEERING WORK IN BETTERING THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THE AGING AND ELDERLY DURING HER TENURE AS RESEARCH DIRECTOR FOR THE JOINT LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE ON AGING.

Whereas, when Keller H. Barron was named Director of Research for the Joint Legislative Committee on Aging of the South Carolina General Assembly in 1979, she had an extensive record of public service; and

Whereas as Associate Director of Community Care, Inc., she directed a Support for Public Education project and supervised the Meals on Wheels program; and

Whereas, Ms. Barron graduated from Agnes Scott College with a B.A. degree in History and Political Science, and she served on the national board of the League of Women Voters of the United States and was appointed by Governor John West to the State Reorganization Commission and the State Human Affairs Commission; and

Whereas, she attended the National Leadership Institute on Aging in Colorado in 1994 and was appointed by Governor Carroll Campbell as a national delegate to the 1995 White House Conference on Aging in Washington, DC and a state delegate to the Governor's White House Conference on Aging; and

Whereas, Ms. Barron currently serves on the Adult Protection Coordinating Council and the Advance Directives Coalition; and

Whereas, it is appropriate for members of the General Assembly to pause in their deliberations so they might reflect on the distinguished career and many contributions of Keller H. Barron and, by this resolution, express to her their appreciation for a job well done. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly express their gratitude and best wishes to Keller H. Barron for her pioneering work in bettering the quality of life for the aging and elderly during her tenure as Research Director for the Joint Legislative Committee on Aging.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Keller H. Barron.
