A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING MS. BETTY BAIRD OF LEXINGTON COUNTY UPON HER RETIREMENT FROM CLEMSON EXTENSION SERVICE.

Whereas, Ms. Betty Baird of Lexington County served with Georgia Extension Service for three years and has worked for Clemson Extension Service for twenty-seven years; and

Whereas, Ms. Baird earned a B.S. degree in Home Economics from the University of Georgia and a Master's of Education degree from the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, during her professional career she has received numerous awards and honors including: South Carolina Association Extension Home Economist Distinguished Service Award; Meritorious Award, Outstanding County Programs from Clemson twice; and Epsilon Sigma Phi Meritorious Service Award; and

Whereas, she is a 1995 graduate of Leadership Lexington County and she served as County Extension Director for eight years; and

Whereas, she is a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Batesburg, where she has been very active over the years, participating as Sunday School teacher and serving on the Board of Trustees, the Administrative Council, the Finance Committee, and the Parsonage Committee; and

Whereas, she has assisted the community in countless ways for many years through her work with Clemson Extension Service; she is respected, admired, and loved by all who know her; she has touched and helped to shape many lives, and her efforts, hard work, dedication, and professionalism are highly deserving of recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Ms. Betty Baird of Lexington County upon her retirement from Clemson Extension Service.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Baird.
