A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THE LEXINGTON HIGH SCHOOL CHORUS ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR BEING NAMED GRAND CHAMPION OF THE FIESTA-VAL INVITATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL HELD IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA ON THE 17TH AND 18TH OF APRIL, 1998.

Whereas, under the direction of Mr. Gary Calloway, the Lexington High School Chorus competed in the Fiesta-Val Invitational Music Festival held at the Clayton County Performing Arts Center, Atlanta, Georgia, on the 17th and 18th of April, 1998; and

Whereas, the Lexington High School Chamber Choir placed first in the Madrigal Division 4, and was Champion-Chamber/Madrigal Choir of all divisions; and

Whereas, the Lexington High School Concert Choir placed first in the Mixed Choir Division 4, and was Champion Mixed Chorus of all divisions; and

Whereas, after competing against twenty-three choirs from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey, Virginia, and Illinois, and being judged by Dr. David Lee Johnson, Valdosta State University, Harry Musselwhite, Berry College, and Dr. Robert Holquist, Western Carolina University, the Lexington High School Chorus was named Grand Champion of the entire Fiesta-Val Invitational Music Festival; and

Whereas, the choirs also performed at Spivey Hall, one of Atlanta's most celebrated concert venues. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby commend and congratulate the Lexington High School Chorus on the occasion of their being named Grand Champion of the Fiesta-Val Invitational Music Festival held in Atlanta, Georgia on the 17th and 18th of April, 1998.

Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Gary Calloway and to Lexington High School.
