CONGRATULATING THE NORTH AUGUSTA SWARM BASKETBALL TEAM ON WINNING THE YOUTH BASKETBALL OF AMERICA SOUTH CAROLINA CHAMPIONSHIP AND WISHING THEM GOOD LUCK IN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN JULY.
Whereas, the North Augusta Swarm won the Youth Basketball of America (YBOA) State Championship for South Carolina this spring; and
Whereas, the team finished with an outstanding record of 17-2 during April and May and remains undefeated within the State of South Carolina; and
Whereas, the Swarm capped a busy spring by winning the State YBOA championship and will represent South Carolina as the State champs at the YBOA National Championship in Orlando, Florida, July 25-August 2, 1998; and
Whereas, the Swarm is a thirteen-year-old team of young men unsurpassed in their drive and dedication, with an unparalleled coaching staff--qualities which brought a victorious end to the regular basketball season for the school; and
Whereas, the team demonstrated true grit, hard work, unity, and superb talent throughout the season to capture the State title.
Whereas, the General Assembly is pleased to have this opportunity to accord special recognition to this very fine group of athletes and talented coaches. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, hereby congratulates the North Augusta Swarm Basketball Team on winning the Youth Basketball of America South Carolina Championship and extends to the team best wishes and good luck in the National Championship in July.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the North Augusta Swarm Basketball team.
