A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE CLARENDON COUNTY TUTOR-MENTOR PROGRAM ON RECEIVING THE "COMMUNITY GROUP OF THE YEAR" AWARD FROM THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF JUVENILE JUSTICE.

Whereas, on April 21, 1998, the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) held its annual Volunteer Recognition Banquet at which the Clarendon County Tutor-Mentor Program was presented with the "Community Group of the Year" award; and

Whereas, the group motto of the Clarendon County organization, "Changing Minds - Changing Lives", has truly been put into practice in the community with very good results; and

Whereas, the Clarendon County group provides tutoring services for the young people at DJJ and also provides time and activities with positive role models; the program involves compassion and understanding and is giving shape and substance to troubled lives; and

Whereas, we are delighted to have the opportunity to accord special recognition to this outstanding program of community service, awareness, and involvement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates the Clarendon County Tutor-Mentor Program on receiving the "Community Group of the Year" award from the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Clarendon County Tutor-Mentor Program.
