A SENATE RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE TOWN OF JOHNSTON ON ITS CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION.

Whereas, since May 25, 1897, the Town of Johnston has flourished as an outstanding municipality; and

Whereas, Johnston has meant much to the growth and success of Edgefield County over many generations; Johnston, known as the "Peach Capital of the World", is one of the loveliest towns not only in the Palmetto State but in all of North America, and the town's citizens are among the friendliest to be found anywhere; and

Whereas, the town will host the Johnston Town Centennial Celebration on Sunday, May 25, 1997, to mark the town's one hundredth birthday; and

Whereas, we are greatly pleased to have this opportunity to recognize and salute Johnston and its wonderful citizens on such a happy occasion. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Town of Johnston on its centennial celebration.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Town of Johnston, in care of Mayor Dean Campbell.
