A SENATE RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING ST. JOHN BAPTIST CHURCH OF LANGLEY ON THE OCCASION OF ITS ONE HUNDREDTH ANNIVERSARY.

Whereas, on Sunday, May 18, 1997, St. John Baptist Church of Langley will celebrate one hundred years of proclaiming the Gospel and serving the community; and

Whereas, since 1897, the church has grown and has toiled with the utmost dedication and care to proclaim its Christian mission; and

Whereas, St. John Baptist Church has meant much to the Town of Langley and to Aiken County for many generations and today flourishes as a beacon of hope and good will; and

Whereas, we are delighted to have this opportunity to share in the joy of the church's centennial. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate St. John Baptist Church of Langley on the splendid occasion of its one hundredth anniversary.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to St. John Baptist Church, in care of the church's pastor, Reverend Curtis J. Blocker.
