TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, RELATING TO AREA VOCATIONAL CENTERS, DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 2128, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The regulations of the Department of Education, relating to area vocational centers, designated as Regulation Document Number 2128, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
SUMMARY AS SUBMITTED BY PROMULGATING AGENCY.
The South Carolina Department of Education, Office of Occupational Education, proposes to amend Regulation 43-236. This regulation sets out a minimum of occupational programs within school districts. We propose that this regulation be amended in order to make it consistent with other laws and regulations. The South Carolina School-to-Work Transition Act of 1994 establishes a school-to-work system to equip all students with relevant academic skills, marketable occupational skills, and appropriate work-place behaviors. The act states that the structure for developing the school-to-work system, which is available to all students as needed and appropriate, shall be flexible to meet local school needs.
