EXPRESSING THE APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE FOR THE DISTINGUISHED CAREER OF SERVICE OF FOREST K. ABBOTT ON THE RICHLAND-LEXINGTON AIRPORT COMMISSION ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.
Whereas, the members of the Senate note that Forest K. Abbott was appointed to the Richland-Lexington Airport Commission by Governor Ernest Hollings in 1961, the year of the commission's creation; and
Whereas, he was subsequently reappointed by Governors Russell, McNair, West, Edwards, Riley, Campbell, and Beasley; and
Whereas, in his tenure on the commission he has served three years as chairman and in his entire career on the commission has acquitted himself with distinction, demonstrating in ample measure those qualities of diligence, leadership, and vision that are the mark of a true public servant; and
Whereas, it is appropriate for members of the Senate to pause in their deliberations so they might reflect on the distinguished career of Forest K. Abbott and, by this resolution, express to him their appreciation for a job well done and a Richland-Lexington Airport Commission well positioned to be a boon to the economic development of the Midlands and all of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate express their appreciation for the distinguished career of service of Forest K. Abbott on the Richland-Lexington Airport Commission on the occasion of his retirement.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Forest K. Abbott .
