A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF MR. OSCAR LEE STROUD, JR., OF CHESTER WHO PASSED AWAY DURING THE LEGISLATIVE INTERIM.

Whereas, the members of the Senate were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Oscar Lee Stroud, Jr., of Chester who passed away during the legislative interim on November 28, 1997; and

Whereas, Mr. Stroud was a graduate of Edgemoor High School, attended Clemson University, and was a veteran of the United States Air Force; and

Whereas, Mr. Stroud was a dedicated and devoted public servant of Chester County; and

Whereas, Mr. Stroud served as Chester County Coroner for almost twenty years and as Building Inspector for the City of Chester for three years; and

Whereas, Mr. Stroud was an active participant in the community where he was a founding member and long-time treasurer of the Chester County Rescue Squad and a member of the Sertoma Club; and

Whereas, Mr. Stroud was a faithful member of Heath Memorial United Methodist Church and served as Methodist Lay Speaker MYF Leader and Sunday School Superintendent. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, hereby express their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Mr. Oscar Lee Stroud, Jr., of Chester.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his widow, Mrs. Louise McKeown Stroud.
