CONGRATULATING MR. ED PAUL OF CLARENDON COUNTY ON WINNING THE PRESTIGIOUS JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP DUCK-CALLING CONTEST.
Whereas, thirteen-year-old Ed Paul, a resident of the Clarendon County town of Summerton, won the prestigious Junior World Championship Duck-Calling Contest held in Stuttgart, Arkansas, on November 26, 1999; and
Whereas, Ed's victory followed a competition against fourteen of the best young duck callers from around the world; and
Whereas, Ed had previously entered only four duck-calling contests, winning all of them including the Junior Title at Easton, Maryland's Mason-Dixon Regional Duck-Calling Contest; an event sponsored by the Waterfowl Association; and a contest held in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina; and
Whereas, Ed Paul is the first person east of the state of Tennessee to win a world duck calling contest in 63 years; and
Whereas, Ed's championship calls were made using a Swamp Thing Mallard Call created by Marc Ackerman of Cottageville; and
Whereas, Ed is a well-rounded young man who attends Manning Middle School, enjoys playing football, basketball, and baseball, hopes to pursue a career in waterfowl management, and whose ultimate goal is winning the adult world duck-calling championship. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate extend their heartiest congratulations to Mr. Ed Paul of Clarendon County on winning the prestigious Junior World Championship Duck-Calling Contest.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Ed Paul.
