A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 25-11-25 SO AS TO REQUIRE, BEGINNING WITH FISCAL YEAR 1999-2000, THAT APPROPRIATIONS BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO VETERANS' ORGANIZATIONS INCLUDE AN APPROPRIATION IN A LIKE AMOUNT AND UNDER THE SAME TERMS AND CONDITIONS TO THE VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA, INC., AND TO REQUIRE THIS APPROPRIATION BE IN ADDITION TO FUNDS PREVIOUSLY APPROPRIATED FOR VETERANS' ORGANIZATIONS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 25-11-25. Beginning with fiscal year 1999-2000, to the extent that the General Assembly appropriates funds for the use of veterans' organizations, it must appropriate funds for the use of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc., in a like amount and under the same conditions. The appropriation for the Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc., must be in addition to amounts previously appropriated for other veterans' organizations."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
