A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY UPON THE DEATH OF PROFESSOR DAVID KINLEY OF LEXINGTON COUNTY AND EXTENDING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly were saddened to learn of the death of Professor David Kinley of Lexington County; and

Whereas, he was a 1972 graduate of Benedict College and received his Masters degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, at the time of his death, Professor Kinley was in the middle of his twenty-sixth year of service at Benedict College; and

Whereas, during his tenure at Benedict College, he performed numerous duties, including advisor to the senior class and director of all commencement activities; and

Whereas, Professor Kinley was a devout Christian who gave his life to Christ at an early age, and he was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where he served on the Deacon Board, taught the Senior Citizens Sunday School Class, and was a member of the Mighty Men's Club; and

Whereas, because he loved young people and was an inspiration to them, he often served as a speaker at numerous area churches, especially on occasions honoring youth; and

Whereas, Professor Kinley is missed by his family, church members, co-workers, current and former students, and cherished friends; and

Whereas, left to mourn his passing are his mother, Ms. Dorothy Kinley, six sisters, two brothers, and a host of other relatives and friends; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly want the family and many friends of Professor David Kinley to know they are uppermost in their thoughts and have the members' deepest sympathy. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, express profound sorrow upon the death of Professor David Kinley of Lexington County and extend deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Professor Kinley's mother, Ms. Dorothy Kinley.
